The Accredited Financial and Career Counseling Professional Program includes three books and additional Career Counseling Curriculum:
- Personal Finance by E. Thomas Garman and Raymond E. Forgue
- Guide to Surviving Debt by The National Consumer Law Center
- Solve Your Money Troubles: Debt, Credit & Bankruptcy by Robin Leonard and Margaret Reiter
Curriculum includes essential counseling skills, solution-focused budget analysis, and the latest on credit and lending. It also covers learning how to save and invest, manage student loans, file taxes, decrease credit card debt, and plan for the future. Career counseling curriculum encompassing choosing a career and obtaining employment. Successful candidates earn a two-year renewable certificate.
Enrollment includes a membership to the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors. When you pass the exam, your membership will be activated and your continuing education requirements will be tracked toward recertification.
Request the Exam
When you are ready to take the exam, complete the Request Exam Form. Testing materials are sent to the testing site indicated on the form. Proctoring services are required. These are easily arranged through local community colleges, universities, or libraries. Proctoring fees are determined by the proctoring site and may vary from location to location. The individual or firm taking the test is fully responsible for proctor payment.
The certification exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions that relate directly to the content presented in the study manual. Candidates must answer a minimum of 80 questions correctly to pass. (Please allow 7-10 business days for proctor to receive testing materials.)
NACCC provides continuing education unit tracking and recertification for its members. Through NACCC, members have a voice concerning the education they receive.

Please Note: To become an Accredited Financial Counseling Professional you must be an active member of NACCC. To become a member of NACCC one must hold either the Certified Credit Counselor or the Financial Health Counselor Designation.
